The Naga Students Union Chennai, celebrated its 41st Freshers’ Day cum Annual Day on 19th October 2019, at Hindustan Bible Institute, Chennai on the Theme: Cultural Fusion and with Motto: “Do not despise these small beginnings.” Zechariah 4:10. Shri Wapangtoshi, the President of Northeast India Welfare Association Chennai (NEIWAC) was the Guest of Honour and Miss Zuchobeni Tungoe, a promising Artist also the recently crowned Miss Dimapur 2019 was the Special Guest Artist.
In the first session, the program was chaired by Miss Shwisho Lorin, the Cultural Secretary of NSUC. Miss Athono Angami, a promising artist from Nagaland performed her original song followed by an Opening prayer from the Pastor of Tangkhul Baptist Church, Chennai. Welcome Address was given by Miss Asuno Tase, the Finance Secretary after which Miss Zuchobeni Tungoe entertained the audience with her melodious voice. Freshers’ self-introduction was done with the help of Mr. Angelus Pamei, the Vice President of NSUC. Presidential address was delivered by the President himself, Mr. Chibenthung Lotha N. He briefed about the union and encouraged everyone on how to make the best use of the good opportunities the city offers and live a good life. Thereafter, followed by speech from the Guest of Honour, Shri Wapangtoshi. He delivered a beautiful message on the motto “Do not despise these small beginnings.” Representatives from Hindustan Bible Institute, also delivered message about their programms to the audience. Miss Liokchila Jamir, delivered speech on behalf of the Freshers followed by Vote of Thanks from Mr. Clement, General Secretary NSUC and followed by Prayer for lunch and Mr. Machongwang Chawang, Pastor, Zeliangrong Christian Fellowship Chennai.
The second session commenced after lunch where Ms Kesilenuo Pienyu, the Literary Secretary NSUC and Mr Akumtoshi, compered. In this session, various performers from Nagaland, Manipur and Mizoram entertained the crowd with their beautiful performances. Special Guest Artist, Miss Zuchobeni Tungoe, entertained the audience with 3 more songs. A cultural fusion theme show was also performed by the members of the NSUC. Certificates were also handed over to all its members who participated in the program. Vote of thanks was delivered by Mr. Tovi Awomi, the Assistant General Secretary followed by a mass prayer led my Mr Kaso, Pastor of Deliverance House of Prayer.
