When it comes to music, the Mizo’s are one finest talented and gifted ones. Project Praise, a Gospel project of Mizoram launched their debut English Gospel Video album titled ‘Project Praise’ on 14th of September, 2019 at Aijal Club. Project Praise aims in promoting young budding Gospel singers of the state.
The launching program was hosted by the gorgeous Rini Hlondo that began with an invocation proposed by Rev. Fr. James Zodinliana who said that singing, especially choir singing and worship singing shows a sign of unity as all members need to sing the same tune and to the same beat. No one can sing in her /his own way if she/he is to sing with the group.
Project Praise Choir then belted out their hearts, singing one of the songs from the album titles, ‘Praise Him’.
The Project Director Amanga Francis Sailo gave a report of the project. He said that the project began with an unexpected phone call from Johnny Sir Ruangmei, proprietor of Liamtra travel app offered to finance the project. It began in the year 2017, however they were unable to complete the project at the desired time as Amanga, the Choir Master of the Diocese Choir along with the choir were working on an album.
Project Praise has engaged three choirs – The St. Mary’s Parish Choir, The Cathedral Parish Choir and the St. Andrew’s Parish Choir in coming up with the album.
All the songs, except ‘Change My Heart’ and ‘My God Loves Me’ have been written by the Project Director Amanga Francis Sailo. A few of the songs had been written in Mizo language and for the purpose of the project, translated into English. Most of the songs are based on Bible verses.
