Northeast India Fashion Week

Northeast India Fashion Week, a platform that sets and creates a bridge between the Loinloom/Handloom Weavers and Fashion Designers. The Northeast India Fashion Week took place on 26th April in a packed audience at the Conference Hall, Hotel Acacia Dimapur. The fashion week was a month’s long preparation by the Chief Operating Officer Gloria Ovung and Model Coordinator Menty Jamir.

Dimapur a roaring city when it comes to street fashion and lifestyle witness the 10 Fashion designers from across Northeast India. The Opening of the Northeast India Fashion Week by Naga designer Suliya Swu followed by Mansha Aomeshu/Viphreseno Chusi (Kohima) and the Showstopper Kaheli Chopy (Femina Miss India Nagaland 2017), Labakorcy War Designer (Shillong), Gollo Menia & Aina Siram (Arunachal Pradesh), Angie Designer (Arunachal Pradesh), Sangpi Terangpi Designer ( Diphu Karbi Anglong), Benwangliu Designer (Dimapur), Ressha Camdir Tok Designer ( Arunachal Pradesh), Toli Assumi & Chinelo Uzo-Igwilo (Nagaland & Nigeria), Sentisangla Designer (Nagaland) and Menty & Gloria ( Guwahati, Assam) launched their brand Glitz Edge during the event.

The weavers of Naga tribes who participated during the fashion week are Lotha Tribe (Weaver Zubeni Kikon), Chakheshang Tribe (Weaver Kukhrungolu), Sangtam tribe (Weaver Muzisela & Atsala Anar), Ao tribe(weaver Wapangienla Jamir), Sumi tirbe (weaver Khutoli Sumi), Konyak tibe( Weaver Neikhao Konyak)and Zeliang tribe ( weaver Aliuringliu) and weavers from Tripura and Boro from the Northeastern states were highlighted during the fashion week.

Fashion Week is never complete without the glam team by Johnny D’Ascoli and performance made by Tuden Lkr and Chanbeni. The Fashion Week was choreographed by Fashion Model Opang Jamir and the leading Northeast India magazine The Northeast Window as Magazine Partner, Photography by Onenjungshi Ao.
