“I’ve always stood first in arts ever since my childhood, trying to produce pieces of art on topics that reflect upon my mind”, says famed artist Arundhati Choudhury, with extraordinary artistic talents whose name is synonymous with India’s contemporary art. Being a born genius, endowed with immense creative productive capabilities, she leaves no stone unturned in painting huge soul satisfying pieces of art. Eminent personalities of Assam like Dr. Bhupen Hazarika, Mamoni   Raisom Goswami, Nava Kanta Barua and others used to fondly gaze at her awe-inspiring paintings that were put up for viewing in various exhibitions in different periods of time.

Born and brought up in Nagaon, she is a rare gem for her family, friends, associates and all near and dear to her. She has carved a niche in the realm of art, being a loving wife and a compassionate mother to her son and daughter. Highly acclaimed Arundhati has acquired innumerable laurels, having participated in exhibitions far and wide. Her paintings were highly appreciated in exhibitions that were held in Bangkok, Singapore and Kathmandu. Having organized five solo exhibitions of her paintings in Guwahati, she has attended a number of workshops in various places in India. She has organised exhibitions of her art works in all the major art galleries of India that won accolades.


Her achievements are innumerable. Receiving the National Fellowship Award from Bharatiya  Dalit Sahitya Academy in 2011, she was selected for Senior National Fellowship by Ministry of Cultural Affairs, Government of India, 2013. She won the National Kalashree Award from Babu Jagjivan Ram Academy, New Delhi. She received the International Indo-Nepal Friendship Award for Kala in 2012. A recipient of National Samajseva Padmasri Award from Pune, she got the National Kalajyoti Award from Imphal in 2014. She received National Award for Natya and Kala from Nasik, Maharashtra in 2014. She was given the Assam Gaurav Award in 2013. She also received the National Kalaratna Award from Imphal in 2013 and National Kalajyoti Award from Jogeswari, Mumbai. She won the prestigious Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Rashtriya Gaurav  Sanman Padak from Haryana in 2012.
