“The differently-abled students of Maria’s Public School are just like us. They are endowed with immense innate talents. Being helped by the special educators to hone their talents, they have really grown fully well, expressing themselves, making use of the facilities provided to them. Rendering meticulous care, here, the educators leave no stone unturned in giving them instructions that suits them best,” said Priyadarshini Chatterjee, the reigning fbb Femina Miss India 2016, visiting her alma mater Maria’s Public School on 8th August.
Being deeply touched by the differently abled children she has framed a work plan for the benefit of the children with special needs through her project ‘Beauty with a purpose’. Adorable Priyadarshini was charmed by the performances of the children and she urged them to develop their talents to reach new heights. This school is the first school in Guwahati to start an inclusive education unit.
Born to Pravir and Papiya Chatterjee on 12 August 1996 in Guwahati blessed Priyadarshini has grown to be an extremely elegant angelic beauty, pleasing and compassionate to one and all. Right from her early age her potentials were considerably evident to her parents who stood by her giving interminable efforts only to augment her talents. While she was at school she was considered a brilliant student. In fact her teachers had suggested her to go for medical entrance preparation. Having a clear vision of the future, she decided to do something different to fulfil her ambitions and achieve her goal. She secured a good percentage in her class (xii) exam which enabled her to get admission into Hindu College of Delhi University. She is now working as a freelance model and simultaneously completing her graduation from Hindu College. She is very keen to be a Film Director. Hereby carving a niche, she wishes to be financially strong by far and purposeful. “My mission in life is to do something that would last long. As we are all capable of doing good things, I would like to tell the youth to follow their dreams to achieve success in their lives”, she says.
In Delhi, ever since she started a career in modelling, she got opportunities to do many assignments. Having a profound passion for participating in beauty pageants, she participated in Femina Miss Delhi 2016 in high spirits and came out victorious, clinching the crown. This gave her the direct entry to participate in fbb Femina Miss India 2016 contest. So, she may not be the most beautiful among 21 girls who participated in the event. In fact it is difficult to point out who was the most beautiful among the lot. For having amazing communication skills and sharp presence of mind, they were some of her answers that made her get the crown. In an event that was full of glitz and glamour, glorifying the glam divas at the Yash Raj Studios in Mumbai, Priyadarshini won the coveted Miss India 2016 crown. Entire Assam erupted in joy on hearing the news of her victory. She will represent India at the global platform Miss World 2016 slated to be held in Washington, USA in December.
With unflinching faith in her abilities and unabated dynamism, Priyadarshini is now agog and gearing up to participate in Miss World beauty pageant. Her most favourite beauty queen of Hollywood is Anne Hathaway. She has a passion for travelling , meeting new people and having good food. She would have travelled around the world had there been no visa system. She thinks that every woman must possess these three qualities that are self worth, smartness and charming personality. She thinks that love is a priority which we all need for survival and it is the most beautiful emotion ever. Her favourite movies are About Time, Gone Girl and Zindagi na milegi dobara.
Priyadarshini says that the beauty therapies that every woman should do are taking a lot of water and being happy. With firm confidence in herself, she is getting ready to represent India at international level and make people proud of her.
