Your guide to the right winter make-up

By: Annalia Zhimomi (Professional make-up artist)

With the onset of winters, your makeup and skincare routine also need to go through major changes. Maintaining a well moisturized and chiseled skin during the winters is a necessity. The first step for skincare routine is C+T+M (cleanse+tone+moisturize), regardless of whether you apply makeup or not. The next step is to prep and prime your skin with a primer so that your foundation is applied smoothly and evenly. I would recommend investing in a high quality primer as it makes sure that it lasts longer, avoids patchiness, clogging of pores and breakouts and even works in improving the quality of your skin.

Below are incredible primers to suit all skin types:

Dry/mature skin – Smashbox photo finish hydration foundation primer.

Oily skin – Benefit pore professional, Smashbox photo finish light, Becca ever matte poreless priming perfector.

Combination to normal skin – Apply Becca ever matte poreless priming perfector only on the T-zone, Sephora mattifying primer.

Discoloured skin- Clinique super primer color correct discoloration.

Now we are all set to apply our makeup, and this is the most important step:

Dry skin – CHANEL LUMIÈRE and MAC face & body is perfect for light coverage giving the skin a luminous look, crème based foundation which are highly pigmented.

Oily skin- Bobbi Brown even skin for medium to full coverage, Makeup forever face & body for light coverage, MAC skinfinish natural. Always set your foundation with a powder – MAC studio fix is a good one.

Combination to normal skin – Bobby Brown even skin, Makeup forever HD foundation, MAC studio fix fluid, setting your foundation with powder like Mc Studio Fix will help your foundation last all day and night.

Dry skin – Liquid foundation with dewy effect for light coverage or a crème based foundation which is highly pigmented for medium to full coverage. For dry skin, the foundation should be applied with a beauty blender (sponge) as it avoids flakiness of the skin and sets the dry skin in its position.

Oily skin – For light coverage oily skin should be tackled with a mattifying light weight foundation and it must be sealed with powder as this will help the makeup last longer because the makeup tends to wear off quicker. The best way to apply foundation on oily skin is with the help of a buffing brush in circulation motion as this will help to minimize pores drastically.

TIP:

  • MAC pro long wear is an amazing concealer!
  • Using lipstick as your blush will give your skin a natural rush of color. Lastly, highlighting your cheekbone will give that chiseled glow. Apply rich crème based highlighter on dry or normal skin and powder based highlighter on oily skin.
